June is a month of all my favourite things: almost-summer weather, Pride, and my birthday! I didn’t exactly imagine I’d be celebrating my 30th in quarantine, but I’m trying not to let that dampen my spirits too much.
In the spirit of the month, we paired up with Amaranth Fibres, a fellow queer Canadian fibre artist! This Video Dance Party yarn is everything I love about Pride, and the 90s, so funky spiral leg warmers seemed like the most appropriate pattern! If leg warmers aren’t your style, use it to make fun socks, a flamboyant shawl, or use it as a pop of colour paired with a neutral solid. The options are endless!
In addition to all this, June was also been an incredibly important month for civil right and social justice. In support of these ongoing protests, rather than including a gift item in the June Wonderland Subscription Box, that money was donated directly to Black Lives Matter - Toronto. Black Lives Matter Toronto aims to support Black healing, affirm Black existence, forge critical connections and to work in solidarity with Black communities, networks, movements and allies in order to dismantle all forms of state-sanctioned oppression, violence, and brutality committed against African, Caribbean, and Black cis, queer, trans, and disabled populations in Toronto.
If you would like to donate as well, you can do so at www.blacklivesmatter.ca
